A popular K-Pop festival in Vietnam has come under fire due to its mismanaged organization.
The K-Pop Festival Open Air #2, a 2-day event celebrating K-Pop music, was slated to take place On December 23 and 24 at the My Dinh National Stadium in Vietnam. Artists like EXO‘s Chen and Xiumin, TRI.BE, Super Junior D&E, INFINITE, and HIGHLIGHT were among the performers supposed to grace the stage on day 1. The lineup on the second day consisted of acts like MAMAMOO+, EXO’s Chanyeol, Raiden, Jaejoong, 2PM‘s Nickhun, and Jun.K.
While fans were looking forward to seeing so many artists under one roof, suddenly, many of them withdrew from the event. On December 20, multiple performing artists announced they were pulling out of the event, starting with INFINITE. According to HIGHLIGHT’s agency, Around US Entertainment, the event organizers failed repeatedly to fulfill the obligations on the performance contract with the artists. They were even incapable of confirming if the local permits necessary to organize the event had been attained.
So far, apart from INFINITE, other acts like Super Junior D&E, HIGHLIGHT, MAMAMOO+, The Wind, Jaejoong, TRI.BE, and 2PM’s Nichkhun and Jun.K have all confirmed that their appearance at the event has been canceled.
MAMAMOO+’s schedule for ‘X-Mas Open Air Concert in Hanoi’ (12/24) has been cancelled due to the organizers’ repeated non compliance of contract as well as the lack of preparation locally https://t.co/t2Cvnh7MSs
