MAMAMOO‘s Moonbyul recently opened up about her thoughts on relationships, revealing she isn’t interested in having a boyfriend at the moment.
In a candid conversation during an interview on the YouTube channel VIVO TV, the idol shared her perspective on the topic, explaining that she finds the idea of a male partner unappealing.
When asked about her stance on dating, Moonbyul expressed that having a boyfriend would feel more like a burden than a joy.
She admitted that she prefers spending her free time with close friends — such as Red Velvet’s Seulgi and OH MY GIRL’s Hyojung — saying she enjoys the relaxed vibe of hanging out and chatting with them instead of the potential complications a relationship might bring.
I don’t want to get a boyfriend. I think it would just be a hassle.
— Moonbyul
This wasn’t the only personal insight Moonbyul shared during the interview. She also talked about her experience dealing with online negativity. Addressing a past incident where she publicly responded to a malicious commenter, Moonbyul explained that although she had the option to fight back aggressively, she chose a more composed approach. Her goal was to resolve the situation with positive words, hoping that the person would understand without things escalating.
I could’ve cursed back, but I didn’t want to stoop to their level. Instead of responding with negativity, I wanted to approach them with positive words, hoping they’d get the message.
Before a lawsuit comes your way, you’d better quiet down.

Lastly, Moonbyul touched on her relationship with fellow MAMAMOO member Solar. Despite their close friendship now, she revealed that they used to argue frequently, even joking that their fights sometimes got physical. Over time, though, they’ve grown to better understand each other’s personalities, especially when it comes to how they communicate.
Solar and I are almost like friends, with just a year between us. We’ve fought a lot, even pulling each other’s hair.
— Moonbyul
With her laid-back and thoughtful approach to life, Moonbyul is clearly focused on her career and friendships, finding contentment without the complications of romance.
