Former TVXQ and JYJ member Park Yoochun recently made an announcement that disappointed and angered netizens.
Recently, news spread through Park Yoochun’s brother, Park Yoo Hwan, that Park Yoochun will host a Japan fan meeting and dinner show to commemorate his 20th debut anniversary. According to the information, Park Yoochun will hold the fan meeting Re.birth on February 9 and 10, with a year-end dinner show on February 11.
The fan meeting will take place twice a day for a total of four sessions, with a ticket price of 23,000 yen, which is approximately ₩210,000 KRW (about $ 161 USD). The dinner show, which will be held twice, is priced at 50,000 yen, about ₩460,000 KRW (about $ 353 USD).
Aside from criticisms of the high ticket prices, some netizens are not ecstatic to hear that he is holding a fan meeting despite his multiple controversies. Park Yoochun faced sexual assault allegations in 2015 but was cleared of the charges, seemingly resolving the case. However, it was later revealed that he did not pay compensation and delayed interest to the woman who accused him of sexual assault, causing more damage to his image.
Also, in 2019, he was indicted for injecting Philophon, a type of methamphetamine, with his former girlfriend and granddaughter of the founder of Namyang Dairy. He received a sentence of 10 months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence. Despite denying drug use in a press conference, Park Yoochun eventually faced drug use charges and withdrew from the entertainment industry.
Although he tried numerous times to make a comeback several times, Korean netizens were not welcoming of his return, and he primarily engaged in activities abroad. Recently, he became embroiled in rumors of dating and breaking up with the daughter of a high-ranking Thai official.
He also faced criticism recently after his name appeared on the National Tax Service‘s list of high-value defaulters, revealing total unpaid taxes of over ₩400 million KRW (about $ 307,000 USD) for five cases in 2016.

In response to these controversies, netizens expressed their disappointment at the singer, commenting, “With that much tax he needs to pay, shouldn’t he be banned from leaving the country?” “Pay your taxes first,” and “He doesn’t know what to prioritize yet.”
