Bang Yedam recently made his debut as a solo artist, releasing Only One on November 23. To celebrate his solo debut and showcase his incredible vocal talents, he joined soloist Lee Mujin on his popular musical variety show, Leemujin Service.
During his Leemujin Service episode, Bang Yedam opened up about the creation process behind his new mini-album, the strategy behind his promotions, his appearance on the reality competition show K-Pop Star 2 in 2012 and 2013, and what inspires him.
The talented singer-songwriter admitted he strategically selected which songs to perform on the show, and selected music that felt like he was going “back to the beginning” and “respecting those who gave [him] the opportunity to do music.”
One of the songs he prepared was IU‘s “Troll,” which she released in 2021 with Dean. Bang Yedam explained that he chose “Troll” to perform live because his debut as a solo artist was a new start for him.
Bang Yedam revealed that he viewed IU as the “top” singer-songwriter and added that she is his role model.
Lee Mujin agreed, naming her the “best singer-songwriter in Korea,” saying that she “paved and opened the way” for fellow singer-songwriters in K-Pop.
Bang Yedam continued to praise the beloved soloist, adding that IU is “the model” for singer-songwriters.
