After a six-year hiatus, singer Jessica Jung made a comeback with the new mini-album BEEP BEEP and explained why it took so long for her to release it.
Jessica Jung, a former member of Girls’ Generation, came back with BEEP BEEP on November 22. This was her first album since My Decade in 2017.
In an exclusive interview with MyDaily, Jessica shared her excitement at releasing her album and confusion about how quickly time had passed. She described the title song “BEEP BEEP” as a sophisticated pop-style song that is”playful but not light” and “expresses love that is both touchable and elusive.”
Jessica also shared that she didn’t intend to release an album after six years and had consistently worked on her album to find the perfect songs.
Because I’ve been working on music continuously, I wanted to release music when I collected all the songs I liked. And this time, I found something I really liked.

She also shared that she felt like she was lying when she told fans that her album was coming soon. Now, she is able to tell them something different.
More than anything, I feel proud because fans have always asked me, ‘When is the album oming out?’ It felt like I was lying when I said, ‘It’s coming soon!’ But since my album never came out, everyone started saying ‘I can’t believe you anymore!’ (Laughs) So, being able to say, ‘It’s finally out!’ makes me feel proud.
— Jessica
More than rushing to release any song, Jessica found it important to release songs that fit her taste.
I thought, ‘It’s not right to release an album if it doesn’t suit my taste.’ So, there is a great sense of pride in BEEP BEEP.
— Jessica
Lastly, Jessica confessed that she hopes to “mature a bit more musically” and that “BEEP BEEP” is a representation of her as a singer right now.
[Through “BEEP BEEP,”] I thought, ‘What suits me well?’ and released the song that fits me best right now.

Jessica also revealed that she intentionally chose the song “Better Late Than Never” as the first track of the album.
Time seems to have passed so quickly. I intentionally chose that song as the first track. I participated in writing and composing, and while it’s a song about love, it’s also a song that carries the meaning I want to convey.
— Jessica
The album includes a total of six tracks, including the title track “BEEP BEEP,” “Better Late than Never,” “Get it? Got it? Good” (Feat. Amber Liu), “Best Summer,” “Set Me Free,” and the Korean version of “BEEP BEEP.”
