SISTAR19 member Hyolyn revealed that she spent all the money she earned while running her one-person agency.
On December 28, SISTAR19’s Hyolyn and Bora appeared on Tak Jae Hoon‘s YouTube show No Back Tak Jae Hoon.
Tak Jae Hoon asked Hyolyn, who has been running a one-person management agency for six years, if her agency was doing okay. Hyolyn responded with a hearty laugh.
[The company’s] not okay.
— Hyolyn
She quickly took it back and said the company was doing fine and shared that there is a CEO of operations who runs the company because she”can’t do everything.” Tak Jae Hoon asked why she was the only member signed to her label, and she was brutally honest.
It’s already tough for me alone. Would it be right if someone else came in?
— Hyolyn
She admitted that even though she doesn’t make much profit from her label and the operation expenses are high, she created it so that she could have the freedom to do whatever she wanted.
Despite not flourishing in profits, Hyolyn confidently said she pays her employees on time.
I must pay them even if it means I have to starve.
— Hyolyn
When Tak Jae Hoon asked if she lost all the money she had made, Hyolyn said yes nonchalantly, making everybody laugh. She added that she has no regrets about using all the money.
Upon hearing this, Tak Jae Hoon jokingly asked Bora if she knew that her close friend “was such a beggar,” making them both burst out in laughter. Bora then joked back.
[I knew] because I’m a beggar, too.
— Bora
They then jokingly talked about Bora joining Hyolyn’s company as “beggars should stick together.” Hyolyn joked that if Bora wanted to grow as an artist, she could join her label; however, she must be okay with the company not having money.
All jokes aside, Hyolyn shared that she is very proud of her company for having things that they’re the best at.
But [my company] have our own things that we’re good at, like content and videos, for example. We create these all on our own. I believe that in those skills, no one can beat us. That is my company!
— Hyolyn
Hyolyn debuted as a member of the four-membered girl group SISTAR in 2010 under Starship Entertainment. Later, she was a part of their sub-unit SISTAR19 and became successful with the song “Ma Boy.” In 2017, Hyolyn started her own agency called bridʒ (Bridge).
