Actor Yoo Ah In, who was indicted on charges of propofol, was sentenced to one year in prison and was detained in court.
On September 3, the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Yoo to one year in prison and a fine of 2,000,000 KRW ($ ~1,489.70 USD) in the first trial on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, smoking and instigating marijuana, and instigating the destruction of evidence.
Previously, the prosecution requested a sentence of four years in prison, a fine of 2,000,000 KRW ($ ~1,489.70 USD), and a surcharge of 1,540,000 KRW ($ ~1,147.03 USD).
Yoo Ah In was indicted in October 2023 on charges of habitually administering medical propofol 181 times under the pretext of anesthesia for cosmetic procedures at hospitals from September 2020 to March 2022.
He was also accused of purchasing 1,100 sleeping pills illegally under someone else’s name 44 times from May 2021 to August 22.
