Recently, SM Entertainment announced that it would be debuting a brand-new boy group. Straying from the usual K-Pop group, MYTRO will perform and release trot music, the genre typically enjoyed by older audiences.

The group’s line-up has already attracted attention for including Shohei, the former SM Rookie who suffered an injury that many believe changed his debut plans.

Of the other four members, many may not know that the group’s oldest member, Tey (also known as Han Tae-i), was actually an idol before joining SM.
The 32-year-old originally made his debut as a member of MR.MR as part of its original line-up in October 2012 as Tey.

The group were involved in a scandal involving Hon, a member added in 2013, where a woman claimed that they lived together, had a sexual relationship, and that he had conned her out of money. The woman eventually retracted the claims, though Hon left the group shortly after.

In 2015, member Ryu was unexpectedly announced as out of the group without prior knowledge, resulting in a lawsuit against the company. With the group now three members down, E-HO Entertainment announced that two members would be added to the line-up. Tey also made his solo debut with “Dangerous” in 2015.
As some older members began their military service, three members, including Tey, took part in The Unit, a survival show, though they were eliminated early on.
After a period of inactivity, it was assumed that MR.MR had disbanded, which was confirmed by Doyeon in 2021.
In 2022, Tey competed in Mr. Trot 2, a survival show that likely led to his current position in the upcoming MYTRO!
