Recently, the late Kim Sae Ron‘s aunt revealed the alleged romantic relationship between her niece and actor Kim Soo Hyun in an exposé by Kim Se Ui of Garo Sero Institute. Kim Sae Ron’s aunt alleged that Kim Soo Hyun began dating 15-year-old Kim Sae Ron when he was 27 years old. Additionally, she accused Kim Soon Hyun’s agency, GOLD MEDALIST, of trying to take advantage of Kim Sae Ron monetarily.
Kim Sae Ron’s aunt alleged that GOLD MEDALIST initially tried to extort ₩20.0 billion KRW (about $ 13.7 million USD) in penalty fees after the actress’s drunk driving incident. This was notably higher than the ₩700 million KRW (about $ 480,000 USD) GOLD MEDALIST tried to claim from her later.
Korean media outlets revealed a message dated March 19, 2024, that Kim Sae Ron allegedly sent to Kim Soo Hyun. In it, she begged him to give her time to pay the penalty fees rather than escalating the matter with a lawsuit.
Oppa, this is Sae Ron. I received the letter of certification today, that [your company] is suing me. You said that you would give me ample time, so I’m working hard, preparing to make a comeback. I will pay you back with a percentage from each work. I’m not saying that I won’t pay you back, but if you suddenly ask for ₩700 million KRW (about $ 480,000 USD) right now, I really can’t do anything. It’s not that I won’t, but I can’t. Do you really have to take it as far as a lawsuit? Please save me… I beg of you. Give me some time.

Now, unconfirmed rumors have begun to circulate about actor Won Bin, Kim Sae Ron’s former co-star. According to Korean media reports, a netizen left a comment about the actor’s alleged involvement in the comment section of a Garo Sero Research Institute video. This netizen said that Won Bin was aware that Kim Sae Ron was suffering because of the ₩700 million KRW debt, and he had planned to pay it off for her.

Won Bin personally sent a wreath of condolence flowers to Kim Sae Ron’s wake and attended the wake. According to media reports, he appeared distraught and left quickly due to the attention his presence was attracting.
