Recently, EXO D.O.‘s own thoughts about kissing a much younger actress have resurfaced.
In 2016, D.O. starred in the romantic drama film Pure Love.
Pure Love is about a radio DJ who receives a letter that brings back memories of his first love. Actress Kim So Hyun plays Soo Ok, the DJ’s love interest.
One of the film’s more iconic scenes involved the two leads and an umbrella in the rain. The romantic moment included D.O. kissing the umbrella instead of So Hyun, which was unexpected then.
At the time of filming, Kim So Hyun had only recently turned 17 and had an age gap of seven years with D.O. According to So Hyun, there was a dispute about this scene.
In an interview, So Hyun revealed that many of the male staff wanted a “real” kiss scene rather than the one that ended up in the filming, while the female staff preferred the umbrella kiss.
Ultimately, the decision was decided by D.O. who thought that So Hyun was too young for a real kiss scene, something he relayed to the film company’s CEO himself.
