Rookie boy group ZEROBASEONE recently started a “drama story” series which portrays the members of the group in a sort of alternate universe. The “Our Season” video was released a couple of days ago, with the theme of the video revolving around youth and friendship.
While the reception to the video has been overall well-received and fans have been praising the acting of the members (especially Jiwoong), there have been some accusations of plagiarism towards the group regarding the video’s similarities to one by Stray Kids.
The video “Our Season” is being compared to is the SKZFLIX video released during the promotions for ROCK-STAR. And even at first glance, the similarities between the two thumbnails are pretty clear.
But it’s not just the thumbnails that are in question. Some netizens have made other comparisons between the music videos, such as the band audition shots…
The inclusion of members with bruised faces…
The scenes in a basketball court where members pass by each other…
And eating ice cream.
There have been some comments left on the Stray Kids video accusing ZEROBASEONE of plagiarism, though not a lot.
On an online forum post about the issue, however, most people seemed to agree that the similarities aren’t that egregious, and that similar themes and concepts can be found in a lot of K-Pop music videos.
Do you think the similarities are an issue, or just a coincidence?
