A set of poll results from the Japanese magazine FLASH has K-Pop fans dumbfounded.

The poll asked, “Which K-Pop girl groups are the least talented?”
Of the 500 polled, BABYMONSTER got the most votes, 166, becoming “the least talented K-Pop girl group,” according to Japan.

The magazine included comments from those who cast their vote:
- “They’re all the same, they have no individuality, and they look like any other person you’d find anywhere” (woman in her 50s, part-time worker)
- “Their dancing isn’t synchronized” (woman in her 30s, civil servant)
- “They don’t have the appeal compared to other groups” (teenage woman, student)
- “Their performance doesn’t move me” (man in his 70s, unemployed)
With 79 votes, aespa came in second place for “having no individuality”…

- “Their songs are all the same, and the live singing isn’t very good either.” (Male, 50s, company employee)
- “In reality, it’s obvious that they’re not too popular. Their movements seem a bit sluggish.” (Male, 30s, freelance)
- “I don’t like their singing. They have no individuality.” (Male, 60s, professional)
…while LE SSERAFIM ranked third, with 60 votes, for “lip-syncing too much.”

- “This can be said about all K-Pop groups, but their visuals, music, and performances are all similar, like I’ve seen them somewhere before. They lip-sync too much when they perform.” (Male, 40s, temporary worker)
- “When I saw them at Coachella, they were off-key a lot.” (Female, 20s, office worker)
Given all three groups are well loved in and outside Korea, K-Pop fans remain confused over the results.

- “I noticed all three of them often go for ‘strong’ concepts. So… I don’t think this has to do with live singing. People just don’t like their concepts.”
- “Huh?”
- “BABYMONSTER, aespa, and LE SSERAFIM? I feel like the Japanese voted for these three because these groups tend to have different music styles, haha. Japan certainly has their preferences.”
- “But Japan also likes unique, ‘strong’ concepts, too… I would figure BABYMONSTER is disliked because of Ahyeon. Like, I know she’s good. But I think she might be a bit too over-the-top for their taste.”
- “What are they talking about? BABYMONSTER and aespa are both super talented.”
- “LOL. What the f*ck?”
- “I’m sorry, what?”
- “Huh?!”
- “This must be a joke.”
What are your thoughts about the results?
