SM Entertainment has stated they first learned of former NCT member Taeil‘s sex crime scandal in mid-August.
In a statement shared with media outlet Newsen, SM Entertainment claimed the company first learned about Taeil’s sex crime scandal in mid-August, leading them to make their decision to remove him from NCT.
Both the company and Taeil first learned about the indictment in mid-August. Taeil was questioned by the police on August 28.

The Bangbae Police Station previously stated that Taeil was booked for a sex-related crime in June 2024 after receiving a report from the victim. Since then, the police have been investigating the case.
