The director of BLACKPINK Jisoo‘s upcoming K-Drama, Newtopia, recently talked about her performance as an actor in the show.
On February 3, KST, Yoon Sung Hyun, the director of Newtopia, attended a press conference for the show and talked at length about his experiences while making it.
During the press meet, he candidly gave his opinion about Jisoo, admitting that initially, he was “concerned” about her acting chops.
At first I was worried since she hadn’t been active for a long time since ‘Snowdrop.’ She’s not an actor who has been acting consistently.

But he added that his worries went away when he saw how committed she was to the job.
She gave me four days a week, so those concerns disappeared. By the time the filming started, I think she went into it fully prepared. It was an extremely difficult shoot but she did a great job.

Yoon was practically all-praises for Jisoo throughout the press conference, commending her for her performance in Newtopia.
I felt lucky to have worked with actress Jisoo. She appears in episode 1 and 2, but if you watch up to episode 8, you’ll see that this character could only be played by her.
