ZEROBASEONE member Matthew is going viral on X (former Twitter) for publicly appreciating a Palestinian show on Netflix.

During a recent livestream, Matthew was asked about his favorite current movie, and in response, he mentioned Mo. The series is about a Palestinian refugee called Mo Najjar and his chaotic path from an asylum seeker in the US to citizenship. The show is created by the Palestinian-American comedian and writer Mo Amer, who also plays the titular character in the series.

The series was first released on Netflix in 2022 and received several awards, including a Peabody Award. Its second season was released in January 2025.
An uber-popular show at the moment, Mo is also highly relevant to the current times, given the unprecedented levels of global awareness about the plight of Palestinians living under Israel’s military occupation. Though Matthew simply talked about the show’s storytelling, he initially hesitated a bit to mention the name.

I have been watching a series on…Can I even say it? I’ll just say it…on Netflix, called ‘Mo.’
— Matthew
But in the end, he showed his appreciation for the series freely, winning the hearts of even non-fans on X, left and right.
I watched the second season…I watched the first season when it first came out and it was just like…the story…there’s so much meaning, I love it.

“I’m just gonna say it” mentality really needs to catch on across these ‘idols’ with a platform for real world matters. https://t.co/tjPO7MVJxM

What group is he in? It’s really cool, it’s also a form of education and I’m glad to see him talk about it openly instead of keeping it to himself! It might encourage his fans to watch the series and discover the history of Palestine that is so well portrayed in this series ♥️ https://t.co/wH2swcRXXs

i love him so much ???? this means a lot, especially the obviousness of the support for Palestine; like the show is /specifically/ abt a Palestinian person so there’s no doubt about his stance on this (+he could’ve said ANY other show but /chose/ to talk abt this one on his own ????) https://t.co/lw0XED6qEZ
