A Jin Air flight made an emergency return due to an aircraft malfunction after taking off at Gimhae International Airport heading to Okinawa, Japan.
On February 25, the 8:10 AM flight to Naha Airport from Busan (Flight LJ371) returned due to unusual engine noises after takeoff.
While it was originally set to depart at 8:05 AM, it was delayed before taking off around 8:39 AM but ultimately returned when an explosion was heard from the engine.
Due to landing weight restrictions, the plane circled around Geoje Island before returning to Gimhae International Airport, landing at around 9:56 AM.
Passengers onboard also claimed to hear multiple explosions from the engine during takeoff, with some witnessing flames from the wing.
There were 183 passengers on the flight, and no significant injuries were reported. The plane was manufactured in January 2012, making it 13 years old.
Jin Air reported they scheduled an alternative flight immediately after the emergency return.
