Recently, Chanel A‘s Detectives’ Trade Secrets covered the story of a Korean woman’s shocking married life, which was no less than a tale of pure horror.
In the episode, which aired on February 3, KST, Ms. A sought help from the Bakeho Detective Team to find her son. Ms. A revealed that she didn’t even know the name or the face of her own son because he was taken away from her at birth 25 years ago.
Ms. A shared some details about her background, revealing that she had lost both her parents at the age of twelve and grew up working various jobs, including working in a sewing factory, a restaurant kitchen, and a teahouse kitchen, to survive. She had suffered through unimaginable violence and poverty.
She was then introduced to a man through a matchmaker and got married to him after only three meetings. But her married life was hellish from the get-go. She was under immense pressure from the entire family to get pregnant. During her first night with her husband, she recalled that her in-laws were sitting right outside the room to spy on the couple.

On our first night after marriage, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law were sitting against the wall, listening. My sister in law said, ‘Mom, they’ve started,’ and then, ‘They’re done. Let’s go to sleep.’ I was so embarrassed and ashamed.

Ms. A ended up getting pregnant, but that didn’t stop the abuse against her. During her pregnancy, she would often visit the cafe where she used to work before to hang out, and so her mother-in-law started suspecting that she was having an affair. She even accused that Ms. A was pregnant with someone else’s child and pushed her to get an abortion.
Her husband was indifferent to the issue,, and Ms. A endured it all, thinking about the child’s future. But when she was seven months pregnant, she ran away from home. Her in-laws caught her a month later. From then on, they continued pressuring her to get a divorce and treated her like less than a human being.
When Ms. A was nine months pregnant, she was dragged to a clinic by her mother-in-law and sister-in-law. On their way in the car, she was beaten up and even tried to escape but was caught again. Ms. A recalled in tears that she woke up in a hospital recovery room where the medical staff told her she had given birth to a boy. But the baby was nowhere to be seen.
When I came to my senses, I was in the recovery room of the OB/GYN department. I was forced to give birth through induced labor, but the baby was nowhere. There was only 30,000 won left on the bed for postpartum care. The hospital staff told me that the baby was a boy but they said the ‘didn’t know’ abou his whereabouts.

Desperate to find her son, she went to her in-law’s house, but the baby wasn’t there either. Ms. A even visited the matchmaker, but in vain. “It was like the child had disappeared,” she explained, adding that she has not forgotten her child even for a moment in these past 25 years.
The desperate mother then pleaded on the show that all she wanted was to see her son once before she died, given that she had been diagnosed with poor health conditions.
Without too many clues on hand, the show’s crew did extensive detective work, tracking down her ex-husband. They also figured out that the eldest of his two sons was similar in age to the son that Ms. A was looking for. However, the case has not been solved yet, and is expected to continue in the next episode.
