Back in October 2024, the singer was involved in a controversy after a fan came forward about getting assaulted after approaching the idol. The incident was reported by JTBC, which claimed that the 18-year-old fan was punched and kicked by a man in Jessi’s party.

Public sentiment towards Jessi shifted as netizens criticized her agency’s reaction to the situation, as well as how she appeared to react. The star also left her company after the investigation into the assault.
After additional CCTV footage revealed that Jessi attempted to stop the man, international netizens expressed their support for the idol amidst the criticism. She was also cleared of all charges and addressed fans in an emotional letter.

On February 23, the second night of 2025 WATERBOMB Manila took place, with a host of celebrities in attendance.
